Cruel World are a fairly uninspiring bunch to look at. People have been looking at the same variations of this shot for the last 50 years at least. They’re not the most important voice you should be listening to in the modern world and sonically speaking, they break very little new ground, if any. That doesn’t mean they’re not unique, and it doesn’t mean they haven’t got something to say (if you can believe it!). It just means they’re aware of what they are and where they stand in the modern world. They’re grateful and they don’t take it for granted. For Cruel World, song is king. They’re dedicated to their craft and that’s why they sound a bit like Wilco sometimes…
